Confirmation is the Sacrament that completes the graces given in Baptism. In Baptism, a person becomes an adopted son or daughter of God because they enter into the Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus.

In Confirmation, the gifts and graces of Baptism are confirmed, allowing a person to share more fully in the mission of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. During the Sacrament of Confirmation, the recipients are anointed with holy oil, called chrism, which symbolizes a seal or mark that is placed on a person’s soul, designating them as a Christian.

At St. Mary’s, Confirmation for youth is typically a two year process, taking place in the 7th and 8th grades. Both the Religious Education program and the Parish School celebrate reception of this Sacrament jointly. Because Sacraments are celebrated as a parish, all participants in Sacramental Preparation must be registered members of the parish. Youth who are older than 8th grade but who have not yet been Confirmed are welcome to contact us and receive Sacramental preparation as well. Please contact our Office of Catechesis and Evangelization using the information below to learn more.

Adults who wish to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation may enroll in our Order of Christian Initiation for Adults program (OCIA). Please contact the Rectory using the information below to enroll.
