Each year, St. Mary's holds an annual Spelling Bee during which students of all grades can test their knowledge of spelling.

St. Mary's students start off their experience with Spelling Bees in the classroom, where teachers hold preliminary spelling contests.

The winners of the classroom Spelling Bees then go on to compete in a school-wide competition.

The top two spellers get to advance to the Omaha Metro Catholic Schools Spelling Bee where they will compete against up to 50 students from 29 local Catholic schools. The winner of that competition then advances on to the Midwest Spelling Bee.
