Scouts and Cub Scouts are organizations for students (both boys and girls) 6-18 years of age.
The purpose of these programs is to develop outstanding, high-quality citizens that can serve as leaders and form a strong commitment to their families, communities, and country. Scouting is based on the use of hiking, camping, and various outdoor skills to experience the "Scout's way of life."
Details
The Scouts lead themselves (with adult supervision) by learning basic scouting skills and teaching the younger Scouts what they've learned, leading groups of 7-40 Scouts on outdoor adventures. Successful Scouting organizations like that of St. Mary's build a "culture of caring" that results in a positive experience for all.
Our Scouts know that Scouting isn't just about being outdoors, it's about living the "Scout Law" of being "trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent."
