Will Targy is currently a seminarian studying for the Archdiocese of Omaha. He is also a parishioner of St. Mary's and a proud alumnus of St. Mary's School (class of 2000).
This is Will's fifth year of seminary formation, but this year has been quite a bit different from the others. For the last four years, Will has been studying at Kendrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis; but starting last August, he's been on a pastoral year at St. Margaret Mary's Parish in Omaha. A pastoral year is like an apprenticeship program, which typically occurs about halfway through the seminary process. Seminarians are sent back to their home diocese to work full-time in a parish.
Will has been very busy at St. Margaret Mary this year with lots of different projects and ministries. He's been helping lead the youth ministry program, helping to train altar servers, spending time in the classrooms at St. Margaret Mary School, working with the men's ministry, and also being a part of the RCIA group and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Will is scheduled to finish up his pastoral year at the end of July. He will then head back to Kenrick for two more years of seminary formation. By God's grace, he will be ordained to the diocesan priesthood in June of 2025.
