Hi, I am Sally Ames the Director of Music at St. Mary's Church. I have been directing choirs at St. Mary's for over 20 years and have been St. Mary's Director of Music for over 5 years. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or comments.

Celebration Choir: This group sings regularly on the third Sunday of each month at the 10:00am Mass as well as at many celebrations throughout the year such as Christmas and Holy Days of Obligation. Sunday rehearsals are prior to Mass at 9:15am. The group presents mostly traditional music, but will frequently introduce a new hymn or two as well. We are simply looking for anyone who loves to sing! Reading choral music is a plus, but not a requirement. This is an opportunity for you to share your voice with the community without stepping into a large commitment that requires you to sacrifice a ton of time.

Children & Youth Choir: This group presents at the 10:00am Mass on the second Sunday of the month, gathering at 9:15am in the choir room at the church to warm-up. All children and youth - elementary through college - who are interested in singing are welcome to join. However, the ability to read is a requirement in order to read the lyrics of the hymns, so no younger than 7 years of age is recommended.

Cantors, Accompanists, Vocalists, Instrumentalists: We are always in need of more musicians for any of the Masses at St. Mary's. If you are a skilled musician and are interested in volunteering on a regular basis, or even just occasionally/when someone needs a substitute, please contact us for an interview.

Requirements

There are not many requirements to become a member of St. Mary's Music Ministry, other than a love of music and a desire to share it with the community. We just ask that members attend rehearsals and/or take part in self-preparation on your own time to know the music you are presenting. Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to Mass to set up, though for most groups 30 minutes - 1 hour is requested.
