Greeters and ushers serve as “first representatives” of Jesus Christ at Mass. They help ensure a smoothly running church service and minister to parishioners in a variety of practical ways.

Greeters welcome parishioners at the front doors of the church before each Mass. The duties of an usher include assisting people with special needs, helping parishioners find seats, and collecting the offering. In some instances, simple baskets may be passed throughout the congregation which the ushers may oversee and direct. On other occasions, they may use the more traditional stick handled baskets. Be attentive and cognizant of parishioners attending the service.

Requirements for Greeters:

  • Anyone can be a greeter - there is no special training needed
  • The only requirement is to greet parishioners with a smile - you are on the "frontline," a genuine smile is a gift from God.

Requirements for Ushers:

  • Anyone can be an usher - there is no special training needed
  • If an emergency arises, you must keep a level head and know how to contact local emergency services
